584582 2007-08-26 07:08:00 We buy what ever fits our needs/budget and makes us happy and productive. :) Different people on different incomes fit different market niches and some companies are very good at developing products that fit those niche markets. Some older companies appear to be being passed by more innovative companies when it comes to filling product niches. The hot products this Christmas will most likely be hand held came devices - probably the Wii and the Xbox due to price affordability and game selection, the new iPod nano due out on 5th September (as well as the rest of the iPod range) and what ever toy companies come out with that appeals to kids.

Thanks I had a lazy Sunday.:)

Are you a real person? or perhaps an imac programmed to spew out sales promotions and pleasant "we know best" chat.

I have just signed a pledge never again to reply to any of your posts. What started out as a bit of fun at first, has become pretty boring over the last couple of months. You don't ever seem to be able to concede that someone else may be right, and that you "shock, horror", may not be right. As I said, it makes your comments pretty boring and predictable.

Bye bye winmacguy.... :p

Ken

I am talking about the electronics goods market in general, not just one company.
What I was saying was that sweep was correct although not everybody in the market is limited to a small budget when buying electronic goods and software so many companies try to price/design their products to fit those niches. If you don't believe me then tell me why Microsoft has so many different price breaks/versions of Vista? (apart from the obvious fact that they want to make a profit ) Whether their idea is successful remains to be seen.

A lower price point appeals to a person with less money to spend - aka more budget consious, a higher price point will appeal to a customer who is less budget concious.
Basic marketing 101 that you would learn at any business course or marketing dept.
Without some form of product marketing -including word of mouth- you will find it rather tricky to promote your product in a competitive market. Then if the product is generally as good as the marketing proclaims you end up with great sales - if not your sales slump. (can also be determined by a bunch of other factors)

584584 2007-08-26 08:42:00 Keep in mind that Winmacguy went for one ride in an Audi and instantly became an expert on cars, and designated the Audi to be the car anyone with taste and style would aspire to.

Failing to want one just proves you lack taste, and have no idea what your talking about.

Best to leave the wank factor to the knobs.

Actually the Audi is just my personal preference and the example I happened to use which is why I also mentioned European cars in general since it is not the only European car on the market for people who like to own and drive them. I have liked the Audi ever since the 2.0 litre Audi Quattro of the mid 80's. My own car is a much cheaper family wagon.

584587 2007-08-26 11:08:00 I own an Alfa Romeo and I've driven a few. Nothing like it. No Japanese car I've ever driven even comes close. Every time I drive my car I have a smile on my face - I even like driving between traffic lights - and this is after nearly two years of ownership. I don't have to drive it - it just goes where I think. It is front wheel drive yet I have a rear wheel drive feel of control with the throttle.

And it's only a base model.

For Christmas I want a Brera...

584588 2007-08-26 11:13:00 Funnily enough, I find the people that wheeze on about how Japanese cars are sooo much better than Euros are like the motorcyclists that wheeze on about how Japanese bikes are sooo much better than Harley Davidsons - they both haven't got a European car or a Harley.

The people with European cars and Harley Davidson motorcycles really don't need to enter the debate because they don't own their vehicles for even remotely the same reasons.

 And here we have one more PF1er who sees Winmacguy for what he is.
The more we expose him, the less likely others will get sucked in by his bs.
