| 762100 | 2009-04-03 23:43:00 | I tried to run Disk Defragmenter today but it says that CHKDSK is scheduled. I did the cmd chkdsk /f but it won't run when I restart the computer. I tried doing the same thing but in safe mode but nothing happened when i restarted my computer. Thanks :) |

If so, select "Y". EDIT:If it still doesn't work after a reboot, then do this: Go run>msconfig>hit enter Go to the Boot tab and Tick "Safe Boot". Then let the computer restart and chkdsk should run as scheduled to. Once all is done do the same steps above but untick "Safe Boot" Click OK, and you're done:D Blam |

| 762105 | 2009-04-04 03:02:00 | Your last option is to boot from an XP CD and perform the chkdsk from the recovery console. Or, if you don't have an XP cd, download this and boot from it: www.thecomputerparamedic.com Here's a tutorial on how to use it: www.bleepingcomputer.com Blam |

Assuming your OS is on Drive C: Open the CMD - type in fsutil dirty query C: <Press enter> If it comes back as being DIRTY type in chkntfs /X C: <Press Enter> Reboot the computer - see if Defrag now runs, if it doesn't open My Computer, Right Click on C: drive, properties/Tools/ Check Now - tick both boxes, and click Y When asked to run on next boot - reboot. IF it still wont run, chkdsk or the actual utility that forces chkdsk to run (Autochk.exe ) may be damaged. Edited: if chkdsk still wont run, open a CMD window - type in chkdsk /c that should cause chkdsk to run instantly, even while still in windows. If it does run, reboot and try your defrag again. |

Thanks, I did what you said but unfortunately It still didn't run. I did chkdsk /c and it worked but when I restarted my computer disk defragmenter wouldn't run. Is Defraggler (http://www.defraggler.com/) a good program? I used defraggler and it worked but I'm not sure if its better than disk defragmenter Cheers :) |
