763323 2009-04-08 22:19:00 Have decided to replace the PSU in one of my systems.
The Corsair make, seems to have favor in these pages.
After researching the available models I decided on a VX-550. But while searching the local prices I find the TX650 to be around the same price. Any idea why that would be? Have compared the spec & it apears to be very similar, just more powerfull.

763325 2009-04-08 22:40:00 They have different amounts of connectors too. The VX seems more energy efficient, the TX has more SATA & other peripheral connectors.

I'd probably get the 650, just for the extra overhead if you add/change any parts in the near future.

763326 2009-04-08 22:57:00 Thanks, Iv'e been looking for a site where I can load all the models for a comparison.
The HX-520 is another posibility.
If I load my systems spec into the diagnostic program on the Corsair site, it comes up with the VX-450 & the next model down as sufficient.

763328 2009-04-09 01:39:00 VX and TX is about the same,VX is multi-rails and TX is single rail.

TX is ATX12V V2.2/EPS12V 2.91 while VX is ATX12V V2.2. VX is 1 x 6Pin and 1 x 6+2Pin while TX is 2 x 6Pin. I think extra $10 to get 650 is worth for the upgrade in neat future.

VX has slightly better effeciency, and if you plan on crossfire or SLi in the future then get the TX

Yeah, they arn't listing a 550 though & the 650 is over $200.
I was hoping to land one for under $200.

763330 2009-04-09 07:05:00 Don't have to settle on Corsair. Antec is also an excellent choice with their NeoPower 650W at $175 down at iFocus. qazwsxokmijn (102)
763331 2009-04-09 07:53:00 That is true.
I have been searching google for reviews & comparisons.
Come up with a few other names.
Coolmaster, Enermax, Gigabyte, Silverstone, Antec, OCZ.
All would apear to have similar standing.
Fortunately I'm not in a hurry.

763332 2009-04-09 07:54:00 I agree-I personally use the NeoPower 650 and it works great.

Here are the differences between the Neopower and the Truepower:

Neo Power

Fully Sleeved cables
80mm fan
has PCI-e 6+2 and 6 connections
Better stability due to 3 12v+ rails

True Power

120mm fan
Partially sleeved
2x6 pin PCI-e
