763027 2009-04-07 10:42:00 Ok, this is turning into a painful exercise.

I have tried various techniques (basically all the suggestions previously posted on F1 and googled) to skip having to login into XP Pro.
Tweak UI,
Reg edit,
The options in User Settings.

Somewhere, somehow it's all gone horribly wrong.
I need a methodical, step by step solution out of my self-inflicted mess.

I am now greeted with 'starting up windows' which doesn't actually start.
I've booted into safe mode and am playing round.

These are the screens I now get

1. Attached file: DSC04973.JPG (www.imagef1.net.nz) (2.84 MB)

2. Attached file: DSC04974.JPG (www.imagef1.net.nz) (2.77 MB)

3. Attached file: DSC04975.JPG (www.imagef1.net.nz) (2.81 MB)

Other points.
I have guest account turned off

In the registry I seem to have 'AutoAdminLogin' and 'AutoAdminLogon' - spot the difference?

All I want to do is when the pc switches on it automatically logs into my one and only administrator account.

763028 2009-04-07 10:45:00 You should have made the resolution smaller for dialup users

Use system restore?

763029 2009-04-07 10:49:00 Sorry. Forgot there are Dialup's still.
Tried system restore. didn't work. I think I might have disabled it anyway as my machine is pretty gutless. Normally I use Acronis and do a complete C: backup. But the latest one is quite old.

Microsoft .NET Framework
aspnet_wp or ASP.NET
they can be causing the log on like it is - as far as windows is concerned these accounts are other users, for an account to log on with no prompts like you have, there has to be one account only ( yours) excluding the guest account which is disabled.

You can usually safely hit the accounts and remove them ( make a restore point first, just in case)sometimes removing has "odd" side effects.
