586138 2007-08-30 02:58:00 A friend of mine wants to buy a web cam and would like to know a good model to get.

What are the pitfalls? Should he get a wide angle capable one and how about with or without zoom? Built in mike or not?

Which manufacturer makes the best one?

What cam do you use and are you happy with it?

586139 2007-08-30 03:19:00 M$ and Logitech make good ones.

I have M$'s top of the line lifecam 6000. Amazing camera, although it's $100+ pricetag can be a tad expencive for some. There is a really good value logitech camera, (around $45) but I can't find the model number of it. :o I'll post again if I find it...

586140 2007-08-30 04:51:00 MS ones are fantastic. I used to have one but now I just use the inbuilt one in my laptop. Having a mic inbuilt saves you from having any clutter, good zoom capability, wide-angle views, software to correct/adjust for light conditions and sound and of course price. beeswax34 (63)

586142 2007-08-30 10:44:00 I see you haven;t had too many responses. I'm not sure how applicable this is but I use a D-Link DCS-G900 (www.dlink.com). It hooks into my network and it comes with some pretty good software for capturing images with a motion sensor. I use it more for security than as a webcam but it does the job well.

586143 2007-08-30 11:47:00 Thanks andrew93 but that's a little too specialized for what is required and would need wifi added to computer to work as well, bit too expensive as an option really. zqwerty (97)
