| 585771 | 2007-08-29 00:58:00 | Afternoon. Needing to buy a Band Expander for my '96 Prado. Can't get anything above 90FM. You fellas got any suggestions/hints/recommendations/warnings?? They seem to average around 30 bucks....but I have no problem paying more for quality. Do they come in varying degrees of quality/functionality or is one like any other? Thinking best bet may be to go to a car stereo shop and buy it there and have them install at the same time.... Cheers. |

| 585772 | 2007-08-29 01:36:00 | They are all pretty much the same and easy to install. Just goes inline with the antenna cable and one other cable connects to an earth point. The only thing to watch is they come in two different increments - 10MHz & 12MHz |

Yea sorry the cable might connect to power rather than an earth. It's been a while since I've installed one :lol: Bit strange that it only allowed you to go up to 99fm. The ones I've had would allow you to go to 100FM (90+10MHz) or 102FM (90+12MHz). It could depend on the stereo in your car. What frequency does the radio itself go up to? 87? |
