| 585830 | 2007-09-04 08:38:00 | A good hen will lay 1 . 3 to 1 . 5 eggs a day . . so what would that do to a calendar? One way to achieve that with battery hens is to have the lights set to a 16 hour day and black out all the windows . |

| 585831 | 2007-09-04 14:40:00 | I actually resisted the option to artificially produce eggs and chickens. I let mine run loose all day and then they stayed in one of three coops at night. This way they had some semblance of natural activities and got to chase bugs, each other and generally do the things a chicken would do in the wild..but with better foods. I also fed them at least 28% protein foods, more when they were younger...like 33-35% protein for good bones and bird health. Some people try to get by with just some scratch and a little water. Their eggs and meat show the difference though. |

And the evidence of what it does to a calendar is all around you, your lunchtime falls in the middle of the night - yesterday - and the effect on your seasons has put them six months behind already. | R2x1 (4628) | ||
