763343 2009-04-10 01:48:00 The Enermax Liberty 620 looks to be a good unit but it's over the budget.
Those detatchable leads could be handy.
I had looked at the Earthwatts but I would like to go to a 120mm fan.
All the reviews I have read so far say the 120mm fans run quieter.

763344 2009-04-12 04:03:00 Just to update this thread.
After reading many product reviews I have decided that it would be inefficient to go beyond 550w for my current setup. I came to this conclusion as most product tests proved that maximum efficiency was not acheved under 50% or more load.
My system is currently running on a Ginetic 400W PSU that came with the case 2 upgrades ago.
I have compiled a short list in order of preference based on the reviews I read.
1/ Corsair VX-550
2/ Thermaltake TR2-550
3/ Gigabyte Oden Pro-550
4/ Antec TP-550
5/ Coolermaster RS-550
Any comments or critisism would be welcome.

763345 2009-04-12 05:05:00 Don't get the Thermaltake unless it's a ToughPower. If getting an Antec I recommend the NeoPower, not the TruePower or Eathwatts. qazwsxokmijn (102)

Forget the rest, read these reviews:

763347 2009-04-12 05:44:00 Here's another option - I'm not sure about the price - but I have seen the Corsair VX550 and Corsair HX520 within $10 of each other.

The advantage of the HX520 is that it's modular - which makes cable management very, very easy.

Here's a review of both side by side (enthusiast.hardocp.com). You can't really go wrong with either one.

I have the HX520 and it was fantastic to fit. Really tidy with no impedance to airflow.

763348 2009-04-12 06:43:00 gazwsxokmijn, yes the Thermaltake on the list was a Toughpower.
I'm adjustable with the Neopower & Truepower.
My preference in that area was towards the larger fan in the Truepower for lower noise.

Brooko, they are so close I would go for whichever was cheaper.
Corsair is still my #1 choice.

pctech, interesting, there's a lot of data on that site.
Could you point me at the particular items that throw bad light on the "rest"

IMO the rest are not as reliable as Antec or Corsair.

763350 2009-04-14 07:25:00 Well the big decision has been made.
I'd like to thank you all for your good advice.
I have a Antec Neo 550 on the way.
Would have prefered the Cosair VX-550 but couldn't land one inside the budget.

763351 2009-04-14 09:48:00 The earthwatts is good, but I think its slightly less stable over the Neopower, and it isn't modular either:(

Still a dam good deal though;)

Fits in my spare machine and have all the unused connections stored above my DVD drive out of the way of all airflow. I often use the spare connections fro extra bits being tested. I needed it as put the PSU from that machine into someone else's whose Hyena PSU had failed. I like the Antec it is very quite
