90% of the people I know with computers (which is quite a few because I am insanely popular) so going by that one can assume you deal with hundreds of people daily.

Every one has there own views - I see it all the time - if people dont want to run firewalls then thats their choice - But if they decide not to, then they had better not come crying when something happens.(and it will one day)

Oddly enough this morning I was at a person place and Comodo kept on popping up a warning message of some unknown application trying to get in, and it wasn't any I had seen before.

The other comment made
home users check emails and use trademe, if you need a third party firewall then you should consider buying software instead of pirating -- Tell that to the elderly couple I was at this morning. Pirating - yeah right.

BTW - It wasn't me that put comodo on - it was their son who owns his own PC business in Aust and has MVP quals - he contacted me by email last night to go and see if I could help his parents.

763165 2009-04-09 09:19:00 I dont think id ever get you to call by my house for any pc issues, id be left feeling told off for being useless.

There is no age limit for pirating, my grandad once asked me where to get copies of microsoft office, and hes a good church going 80 something y/o man

Do you deal with 100's of people daily? I sure as hell don't, not even sure how one can "assume" that.

Alot of it comes down to user ability, if someone thinks that something is to good to be true and clicks on it they're idiots. Anything to good to be true isnt true. Its a sack of **** hanging on a thread waiting for you to walk under it.

763166 2009-04-09 09:34:00 I'm not the one who says
I am insanely popular thats being big headed .

You have no idea at all how I work - just like I dont know how you do your tasks - I'm not that stupid to say I do .

I have truck loads of very happy customers, why ? because I give them options - its up to them if they take my advice or not - no one can force anything on them .

I have also had a few who didn't take advice and later call me back to say they should have taken it .

As I said before - its up to the person concerned if they want firewalls - if they dont - I dont care, its their choice . Some people like to have extra security, some dont .

You dont agree with firewalls - I do .

Wheres the problem - there is none - individuals choice .

The last comment made regarding " to good to be true" ---- Totally agree, but thats human nature, get a good deal for next to nothing or free .

If a person is around computers all the time, like yourself, me and many others , we know that, but many people simply dont know, and thats what the scummers rely on .

763167 2009-04-09 09:40:00 Glad we agree, I personally see no need for firewalls as avast has been fit for everyone i know

I am big headed, sometimes the ego gets out of control, but still no reason to assume anything.

I dont know how you work at all but i got the impression you were pushy about the issue. Whether you are or not is really none of my business. I'm sure you have plenty of happy customers, and from what I've seen on here you know your stuff.

I just don't agree with you where firewalls are concerned. No hard feelings

763168 2009-04-09 09:45:00 "No hard feelings ' --- None taken

"and from what I've seen on here you know your stuff.'

thank you. I do what I do - but theres always many more people that know lots more than I do.

NO ONE knows every thing - if they did MS would "shut them up" as they would fix all the problems, and how would they make money ;)

763169 2009-04-09 09:48:00 Thinking about it, Microsoft have actually employed a lot more people than they are aware of  hueybot3000 (3646)
763170 2009-04-11 02:22:00 Okay. So I have read everything now.

I have chosen these software:

Avast! Pro, COMODO Firewall + Defence, Malwarebytes, Spybot Search & Destroy, SuperAntiSpyware, SpywareTerminator, McAfee Siteadvisor & Adaware?

But I just want to ask:

1) Will they cause any conflicts?

2) Should I have Adaware?

3) Should I change anything?

Thanks

763171 2009-04-11 03:11:00 They should all work together fine.

Personally - these ---- "McAfee Siteadvisor & Adaware" - I wouldn't bother about.

General ruling - Only ONE antivirus and One Firewall.

Antispyware programs generally all play along together and usually there isn't conflicts.

Edited: SuperAntiSpyware, SpywareTerminator both have active protection - "may" cause a few conflicting messages - may not. Might be a bit of overkill to have both of those - If it were me I'd keep Spyware terminator, not Super Antispyware.(lighter on the system)

763172 2009-04-11 03:49:00 I don't use the real time protection in Super Antispyware (because i'm using the free one) mathsgood (13356)
763173 2009-04-11 04:04:00 Should I enable any of these (in SpywareTerminator)?:

HIPS
Clam AntiVirus Integration (WinClamAVShield)
Web Security Guard

I already have Avast! 4.8 Professional

Thanks
