763185 2009-04-09 04:46:00 They fail as an ISP, and in general IMO.

One of the perks of getting married & moving out in 3 months: I choose the ISP ;)

Sweep: You're better off than most of us who've posted in this thread, Xnet have turned to custard ever since around the time they brought out their Torrent ADSL Plan :(

It ended up costing me a lot of money becuase Xnet went down, as I was transferring funds, and becuase of the outage, I missed the cutoff time (8pm). This means my funds now won't clear until after easter, which means interest will be charged. I guess we can't claim compensation, even though it is a business connection.

Why not? Give them a call and ask for it. Nay, demand it.

Why didn't you just phone the bank and do the transfer that way, rather than just wait for Xnet to come back?
If you try and claim compensation from Xnet, that's probably what they will say.. I doubt they will pay any compensation, pretty much every service provider for anything (ISP, phones, power etc) usually has clauses saying they are not liable for outages that are outside their control - and even if there's liability, it won't extend to consequential losses (like interest because a transfer didn't get made in time).

Not trying to excuse Xnet though - their speed and reliability has got bad in the last year!
