762935 2009-04-07 15:18:00 I've had problems with this brand.I bought like 50 and none of them worked.

I always remind myself to never buy this brand

I don't think its a good brand.Below average according to some research

I prefer using TDK or Imation

762936 2009-04-07 19:42:00 I think the biggest problem is people trying too burn to fast. I'm useing Verbatim DVD+R at the moment. Been burning at 4x. Tried one at 20x and ended up as a coaster.

You'll have to keep reminding yourself because not many others will . Verbatim are usually rated above Imation . 50 and none worked is hard to believe .

Paul where do you source your TY DVD's from?

762940 2009-04-07 21:54:00 Yep - always found verbatim to be very good. And imation, sony, mitsubishi, and pretty anything made by Taiyo Yuden.

TDK are below average, SKC are awful.

762942 2009-04-07 22:17:00 I avoid Transcend anything. I think it hits the low end market IMHO. Bantu (52)
762943 2009-04-07 22:44:00 I was using Imation for ages but then occasionally i would get 1 spindle that would have 5 -10 failures out of 25. So i would put it down to a dodgey batch. I have been through 3 burners in two years now also... But thats another story.
I have now got our supplier to get Verbatim and 100% successful burns this month from 200 discs, and that is verifing all disks and burning at full speed x16.

762944 2009-04-07 22:48:00 Verbatims are made by Mitsubishi Chemical Corp - The media code starts with MCC.
Verbatims are like a cheap TY: significantly cheaper, with about 80-90% of the quality.

The burn quality depends on your burner as well. The fastest and slowest burn speeds always have worse quality (in my experience) than about half the media's speed.
