| 586369 | 2007-09-03 07:48:00 | 3 styles of consumer machines with 2/4/3 different configurations respectively. I think thats what Metla was trying to say. As for software I would have to disagree with Metla except on the game front. Thanks for the clarification on that one plod. I believe the reason is to make the option of choosing a computer a simple one although agreeably their are a few gaps in the line up. However with 1 in 6 laptops being purchased in the US being a Mac laptop, it doesn't seem to have slowed consumers down. August 28, 2007 (Computerworld) -- Apple Inc.'s share of the laptop market is growing -- the company now sells more than one in every six laptops purchased in the U.S., a research firm said today. "Apple's definitely up," said Stephen Baker, an analyst at Port Washington, N.Y.-based NPD Group Inc. "Their sales are continuing to grow faster than the rest of the marketplace." www.computerworld.com As for software I would have to disagree with Metla except on the game front. Agreed. |

| 586371 | 2007-09-03 10:19:00 | Correct. I was just reporting what I had read. Which would mean that it exludes sales from Apple's online store and from Apple Stores themselves which account for a large proportion of Mac sales in the US. | winmacguy (3367) | ||

| 586373 | 2007-09-03 10:29:00 | Selective reporting by Computerworld. It was commented on by other Mac users. Apple stores alone contribute about a billion US in revenue towards Apple's bottom line. | winmacguy (3367) | ||

| 586378 | 2007-09-03 22:09:00 | Reason is no part of the standard equipment for a born again mac fundamentalist. They are determined to have a Mac on every desk, and until that day, push Macs to the point of 100% pain in the ass. We used to dismember and burn people of that ilk in the good old days. I carry no candle for Vista, but would assume that there are more people using it than using macs. Strangely, both are selling for the same reason by and large; - - they are perceived as fashionable. |
