586943 2007-09-01 21:27:00 I have been given some PC133 256MB SD-RAM (2 modules) to sell on behalf of (a close family friend of Mum and step-father). She bought it brand new (ex-DSE) and as far as I can tell, its never been used (going to test later to check that it works).
I'm not sure how much to sell it for  Apparently it cost $120 (I think per stick) and I know she won't get a return on that. But what I'm thinking of doing is buying the RAM for my own needs (or for others around me); but again, whats a reasonable price? (assuming it tests out ok)
(Addition: Had a look on TradeMe, not much actually being sold there)

586944 2007-09-01 22:14:00 Its pretty much obselete now. And expensive, if you buy it brand new.

Altho the old P4 mobo here (which still works AFAIK), uses it.

I wouldn't mind it, but not at 120 each. Altho the mobo is pretty slow (its only 400 fsb). So, wouldnt break any record

586945 2007-09-01 22:29:00 Lol, I'm not trying to sell it for $120 each (she knows its not worth $120 each anyway, now), that was how much she bought it for.
I'm just wondering what would a fair price be...

586946 2007-09-02 08:04:00 I would say about $35 each for a 256MB stick. Tukapa (62)

Thanks for that, it wasn't far off my guess-timate (I figured around $30-$40)

586948 2007-09-02 20:09:00 There are still quite a few PCs in use that use it. I have to buy some every now and then still.

I'd say $55 based on what I would have to pay new.

586949 2007-09-02 22:12:00 Generic 256MB, SDR-SDRAM, DIMM, PC133 @ ascent is $65 incl GST...... SolMiester (139)
586950 2007-09-03 21:32:00 I wouldn't be selling 256MB SDRAM for any less than $50. It's getting damn hard to come by. wratterus (105)
586951 2007-09-03 22:03:00 Still second hand, whether they can remember if it has been used or not.

On that basis, if tested OK, $25 per stick.

It's getting damn hard to come by.I have a bag full of the stuff, every old computer I get dumped on me I rip out the RAM and chuck it in the bag.

Sorry, I should have said "damn hard to come by new". Therefore you can charge quite a bit for it second hand. :p
