| 764375 | 2009-04-12 21:46:00 | Hello. So I'm looking at buying a new game and looking at the system requirements and I'm a little confused by CPU's. For example I was looking at Burnout Paradise and it states it needs minimum CPU: 2.8 GHz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent. I have Intel Core 2 Duo p7350 2GHz. Is this equivalent? I basically dont get whats better when it comes to comparing single core to duel when they have different GHz. I have 4GB ram, NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT in my HP laptop. Running some games my laptop gets very very hot and the fan really starts working hard, I get a bit concerned and only play for short times. Thanks for any help. |

Thats what I thought-but wouldn't they have a bit more similar performance if th game was single threaded and could only utilies one core? |

If the game is older you probably won't feel much of a difference. But in terms of general performance even a Core Solo will beat a Pentium 4. |

I have a dv7 so I think I'm ok . Picked up Burnout Paradise, installed all good . Can navigate the menus however I cannot play the game as there is no (or little) images . I can see the HUD but no actual car or roading, which makes things difficult . Changed the settings to minimum, no AA, everything set to low and resolution at minimum (800 x 600) . Every now and then I can see a wall if I crash . I had a similar problem with another game which I fixed by dropping the settings down but this is already on minimum . I'm using the latest Nvidia driver for my 9600M GT, any ideas please? The reason im using a laptop is cos I'm living in Amsterdam for a bit and will be heading home soon . |
