764248 2009-04-12 08:45:00 Hello everyone,

I am playing a game called "Air Traffic Controller 2: Tokyo Complete" right now, but something's not right with it . The graphics (which I believe is full 3D) is APPALLING, and I don't know why . The models are full of jagged pixels, especially when moving (but planes move a lot aren't they?), and sometimes the graphics skips a big deal of frames when there's too many things to render (e . g . when in the sky) .

I think it is powered by TechnoBrain Pegasus 3D (although I don't really know what that is), if it can help in any way . I can't modify the settings, as it is gibberish (just like when you use the wrong character encoding for a language in another language), and IT IS NOT CHINESE OR JAPANESE (I'm not too worried about this) .

The reason why I want to know is that the game runs fine on my friend's PC (Athlon XP something @ 2 . 1 GHz, integrated graphics chips, 512MB RAM?, XP), which I believe my PC is better (E6300, 2GB RAM, 7600GT, Vista/XP as they are all the same) .

p . s . the game needed d3drm . dll, but I just downloaded one from the net and it worked (badly) under Vista .

764249 2009-04-12 08:52:00 See what happens when you run it in compatibility mode.

Right click the game>properties>compatibiltiy tab>Run this program in compatibilti mode for: Select XP SP2

PS: Never download dll files off the internet. Could be buggy, outdates or worse, infected with a virus...

764250 2009-04-13 01:32:00 Tried a few things yesterday e.g. installing DirectX 9 November Runtime, nVIDIA driver (Forceware 175.71), but still the old crappy quality.

p.s. when I am playing that game, ONE OF THE CORES remains 80+ percentage of use. So it's not optimised for dual-core, but does that matter? I think I should still get decent quality, instead of full of jagged-edged junk.

Strange, how my PC can run NFS MW at max settings (except anti-aliasing) @ 1024*768 very smoothly, but stumbles so hard on this one. It's like my hardware are not unleasing its full potential, due to some errors.

764251 2009-04-13 01:56:00 firstly tell us what the game is and how old. if its quite an old game it may not support modern hardware or graphics modes. then again direct x should be able to emulate that stuff. either your game's settings are borked, direct x is borked or something else is breaking either software or hardware williamF (115)
764252 2009-04-13 02:03:00 Is this it?

Appears to be in fact Japanese (why you cant read the instructions/options?), and according to the comments below the video player, will only run correctly on Japanese pcs (unless you download a file from M$).:waughh:
And I would say you at least want to adjust the game's video options from within the game.

764253 2009-04-13 02:08:00 This game is a Japanese game, and it is released in (I think) 2005 (same year with NFS Most Wanted?!). It shouldn't be too old, then.

Its minimum requirement is:
Pentium @ 800Mhz (or above)
128MB RAM (recommended 256MB)
nVIDIA GeForce 2 (or equivalent)
DirectX 8 sound and graphics
Windows XP

The game doesn't support dual-core (as mentioned above), but I think even using only one core on my CPU should be better than the requirements. It could also be possible that rendering is done with CPU, I don't know how Pegasus 3D works.

Settings are stuffed, as they don't make sense. But on my friend's computer, all settings are used as their defaults, and yet it runs smoothly.

From your logo, you are Chinese right, William? Try searching for pds33.exe and you may get the game... in Chinese.

Weird how there's no troubleshooting in the internet. I wonder why.

764254 2009-04-13 02:10:00 To feersumendjinn:

Thank you, but my one is ATC 2, in which its successor is ATC3, the one that you mentioned.

764255 2009-04-13 02:22:00 Try running the game as Administrator jwil1 (65)
764256 2009-04-13 07:35:00 Tried it, still the same ol' crappy quality.

In this stage, I think the problem has nothing to do with Vista compatibility, because it runs just the same under XP AND Vista. I think it's because there are some settings to configure, or some missing patches and updates that are required.

764257 2009-04-13 07:58:00 From your logo, you are Chinese right, William?
