764013 2009-04-11 09:12:00 having a problem playing a dvd through VLC, it seems to be hanging and not being able to go.

i am able to select the language , then it goes through the usual 'dont steal movies etc etc, but no more.
works fine through WMP11.

cheers

Seems like only solution is to rip the movies to your hard drive and play them..

764018 2009-04-11 12:02:00 VLC is crap like that - use media Player Home Cinema (http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/) LOTS better far more features plays anything (almost) - just finished watching Harold & kumar - uncut version from the video store - wainuitech (129)
764019 2009-04-11 12:11:00 I keep MPC-HC and VLC on all machines. VLC has an iPhone Remote app which means I dont have to get off my lazy bum to pause / unpause or adjust the volume etc, not to mention I can enqueue new items for when the current one has finished playing :D Chilling_Silence (9)
764020 2009-04-11 12:47:00 Use the older (ugly) 0.8x version and I doubt you will have any problems. razzarphenix (2626)
764021 2009-04-11 21:41:00 I use VLC for most things, but actual movies I use PowerDVD pctek (84)
764022 2009-04-11 23:17:00 given Media center home player a go and it seems to work fine.

cheers WT
