Concept: community urinalysis . Sample required: 1 teaspoon of wastewater . Drugs targeted: cocaine, meth, pot, PCP, oxycodone, and 10 others . Ten cities have been tested so far; more are in the works . In addition, "The U . S . Office of National Drug Control Policy has obtained samples from a dozen different waterways . " Official purpose: Tracking drug use collectively so we don't have to target people individually . Unofficial purpose: Tracking drug use collectively so we can choose where to target people individually . Human Nature's view: Data-guided privacy invasions may be bad, but broader, unguided privacy invasions are worse . " |

| 588321 | 2007-09-06 00:07:00 | The following scenario is quite possible: Stage 2 of the scheme: All public urinals will be micro-chipped with drug testing chips with phone home capability from January 2008. Stage 3: All new toilet pedestals for private and commercial use will be micro-chipped from January 2009 Stage 4: All existing toilet pedestals in businesses and private dwellings will be retrofitted with non removable micro-chips starting January 2010. Don't laugh....we have the technology....www.cnn.com |
