587902 2007-09-04 15:55:00 I know it's just FOX-News, but there are photographs and a detailed account to read. (www.foxnews.com)

As ugly as these things are, I wonder how they get a date on Saturday night.

I think they had these in NZ at one time, but they must have eaten some poisoned wetas or the mythical Tuataras and all died.

587903 2007-09-04 20:33:00 Joe - Tuataras are not mythical - they exist Dally (6292)
587904 2007-09-04 20:55:00 Yeah, Tuataras (www-geology.ucdavis.edu) are definitley real (www.brianmoore.co.nz), and living, albeit in very small numbers.

That 'Chupacabra' is hideous!

The tuatara has been classified as an endangered species since 1895[3][4] (the second species, S. guntheri, was not known until 1989).[2] Tuatara, like many of New Zealand's native animals, are threatened by habitat loss and the introduced Polynesian Rat (Rattus exulans). They were extinct on the mainland, with the remaining populations confined to 32 offshore islands,[5] until the first mainland release into the heavily fenced and monitored Karori Wildlife Sanctuary in 2005.[6]

The name "tuatara" derives from the Māori language, and means "peaks on the back".[7]

587906 2007-09-05 02:41:00 Perhaps Joe meant the Taniwha, (en.wikipedia.org)

anyway back to the story, why do these people throw away the bodies and only keep the heads of these animals, i mean surely keeping the body intact for a scientific analysis would make sense if you truley believed it was a Chupacabra,
I mean *** if i found a dead loch ness monster in my back garden i wouldn't lop it's head off and get rid of the rest of it, i would let the scientist take samples etc, then sell the taxidermied pelt off to some rich American museum give the skeleton to the Southland Museum and freeze dry the rest of it and sell it off as an aphrodisiac , (although i would have to send all my advertising emails out via a different country,), or am I just being to logical

Actually i am suprised no one has claimed Steve Fosset was abducted by aliens operating out of Area 51 yet

587907 2007-09-05 02:48:00 Maybe the rest of the body was still stuck in the treads of the 18-wheeler that smooshed it on the highway.

Sorry about Fosset..so far we don't know much here.
