Moore Computer Services, same as before.

Actually, I think a big neon sign saying "pctek" would look great!

Do you do Invercargill? Me mother-in-law sometimes needs help (both hardware and software).

588109 2007-09-05 09:31:00 Er....well.........probably not.
I have done networks, worked at AKldUni in the Cabling/Switches/Routers area.
Worked for F&P as 2nd level support.
But I'm a tech. Its what I like. Messing about with PCs not servers.

However I have done small businesses, before and since I moved.

We'll see what happnes I guess. Rather nerve-racking for now........

13 Main St it will be.
Winston is negotiating terms as we speak....

If I was to do it again, I would be contacting a couple of hundred business in the month before I opened my doors, and a few hundred more over the next month.

Home users will come to the shop but they won't want to pay much.

In fact with a few dozen business using your services you could just about close the "premises" and not have to deal with Joe Public at all.

Bliss.

My last grand plan was to sell a back up system, and then turn up once a month to do a backup (just to ensure they had a functioning back up) check over the system, pocket my apperance fee and then break for an extended lunch.

If I had signed up 40 companies I would have had a gearenteed income, Plus all their repairs and required upgrades and purchases.

Piuty I had a screaming gutful of it by that time.

588110 2007-09-05 09:46:00 I am going to be doing repairs and new PCs from premises in Gore later this month.
Time to take a risk and expand from the home business.

Theres nothing wrong with the home based business. If done right it can be just as professional, if not more professional than working out of a shop, and you can save a lot of money. NZ is a country made up of home based businesses. The only issue is with councils, who catchup with home based businesses, and then try to charge a commerical rate on a percentage of your rates.

588111 2007-09-05 09:57:00 I run my hydraulics business from home, the money I save in rent and other charges I can spend on drink.
The biggest problem is talking on the phone when the kids are fighting sometimes the customer must wonder..

588112 2007-09-05 10:16:00 Good luck Pctek.
Spent a few months down in Herriot a good few years ago. You should have customers coming from far and wide.
