| 764246 | 2009-04-12 23:08:00 | Ive struck this on a couple of computers and it seemed to be part of the casing of the PSU hitting resonance with the fan. Pulling out the PSU, blowing out all the dust, loosening and retightening the screws and refitting the PSU always fixed the noise. However, seeing you have hand held the PSU and the noise has gone it may be part of the case that is hitting resonance with the fan. It may also be your hand that has changed the resonant frequency. ;) Loose laminations in the core of transformers can cause similar grief. It can be damn frustrating trying to pin down some of these annoying buzzes and whistles that appear from time to time. Its a bit like that annoying buzz you can get behind the dashboard of a car at certain speeds. |

But I will inspect the PSU for mechamical & vibrations, possibly insulate the PSU case or summat. Thanks all anyway. PJ | Poppa John (284) | ||
