764154 2009-04-28 23:13:00 I am running a stand-alone PC running with MediaPortal TV-Server running on it.
This is an old AMD XP2500+ with 1GB RAM and 400GB HDD.
This does all the streaming of live TV and recorded TV to the clients.
The main client I have is an Asus Eee Box with XP Pro connected to the LCD TV with a DVI-HDMI cable and audio cable.
I also have a MS MCE Remote for it.
I also have the mediaportal client installed on the two laptops so we can watch TV anywhere in the house :D
This works great for Freeview via satellite but would not work at all with Freeview|HD via UHF as the clients wouldn't handle the HD video.

I'm considering one of these for the same purpose, but was wondering if the video chipset can handle handle Blu-ray playback (assuming you can add a 3rd-party BD drive via USB)?

No I don't think it will.
I have a couple of 720p mkv files that won't play very well.
There is an HDMI version of the Eee Box that can handle HD but haven't seen these in NZ yet.
