a hobby is just that - something to waste money and or time on for personal enjoyment - i just happen to find angering certain people incredibly funny

Well the BIOS password can be removed easily. There's always the fact that you could remove the HDD, plug it into your own PC, mess with it, then put it back it.

588729 2007-09-07 06:36:00 Guys, reckon we could give winmacguy-baiting a rest? In my opinion the overall tone of this forum has dropped a fair bit of late - let's see if we can get it back on track. Erayd (23)

588731 2007-09-07 09:26:00 For what it is worth, that "vulnerability" is the same that exists in almost every *nix by default. Try the same trick with Ubuntu, Fedora etc. It is there in case you lose the root password. You can turn it off quite easily.

It is only exploitable with physical access to the machine, hence most *nix people do not consider it a vulnerability, but a recovery mechanism.

It cannot be exploited remotely.

588732 2007-09-07 09:28:00 Macs Not .. Secure As Users Make Out

Surely, not even Steve Jobs would suggest that users abandon "making out" in the interests of security ?

My other comment at the beginning of the thread was going to be

Any person with the right admin skills can hack OS X when they have physical access to a Mac, try hacking OS X remotely and see how far you get - as in gaining full admin rights and root_access . .
