587978 2007-09-05 10:33:00 Mike Moore isn't half the man that Helen Clarke is, I mean that in the best possible way as I like Helen and dislike Mike. zqwerty (97)
587979 2007-09-05 10:53:00 I hope that childless female we have as a prime minister is rolled as leader of the labour party. Preferably with a steam roller.
I think its karma Moore getting back at the cow for rolling him.
What goes round comes round. Revenge is sweet, good on him.
The way things are going National will become a majority govt, with no need for a coallition.
What a carry on, at the moment the commo labour government we have in power is acting like an opposition party with all the personal attacks.
I cant believe what I am seeing at the more the labour commos do personal attacks on Mr Key and National the more the people hate them for it.
Common sense would dictate they should start acting like adults although I hope they dont so they get trounced.
I hope Mr Key dosent get hardened by all this abuse and remains an affable bloke like Norm Kirk.

587980 2007-09-05 11:32:00 A three term Government is approaching the end of it's lifespan in New Zealand.

National will almost certainly make it into Government at the next election - but not because they have any wealth of talent in their caucus - they will be the government simply because they are there. Also, no matter how much our electoral system has been reformed, our parliamentary system remains Westminster two-party. Labour is one party; National is the other.

587982 2007-09-05 12:02:00 Ted you don't even know the meaning of the word you so glibly throw around. netchicken (4843)
587983 2007-09-05 12:04:00 Would you call National a real party? Seriously?

They are so sorely lacking in leadership talent that their last leader was a first-term MP.

Oh wait - and their current leader is too!

587984 2007-09-05 13:05:00 Clark was an excellent choice for the times considering NZ's predilection for the politically correct at the time, coupled with aspiring to and rewarding mediocrity. The country deserved her, because only by suffering such a government could the people see the error of their ways. The prosperity that NZ has enjoyed has been courtesy of Fontera and NZ Dairy farmers, and in spite of not because of the Clark government. The problem , as I see it, is that the opposition is full of tired faces who have tried and failed - there appears to be too little new blood and talent, and one cannot be at all confident that a change of government will bring any quick improvement. 587985 2007-09-05 13:40:00 If the national party (note lack of capitalization) gets into power we will all rue the day, since the Labour Party is already fairly right of the centre type party of the "old days" in spite of what tedheath may believe. zqwerty (97)
587986 2007-09-05 19:33:00 coupled with aspiring to and rewarding mediocrity.

I'd be interested in hearing you expanding on this point. Do you mean that Labour aspired to or rewarded mediocrity? Or that NZers did?

Either way, please expand your point.
