| 765698 | 2009-04-16 09:27:00 | I'm in the market for a new cordless phone, and the salesman I was talking to today recommended a 5.8Ghz phone, saying they were much clearer than a 2.4ghz model. I'd normally go for the higher frequency because the 2.4ghz spectrum is so crowded, but as I have an 802.11n router which operates in the 5Ghz spectrum, so should I go for the 2.4 phone? :waughh: |

But then we do have 802.11g in our house! |

| 765700 | 2009-04-16 09:39:00 | Is your Wireless N router dual badn? both 2.4ghz and 5ghz? If its 5ghz only, then go for the 2.4ghz phone. You'll get a bit of interference but not too much if you decide to go 5ghz anyways |

| 765702 | 2009-04-16 09:43:00 | I've got a panasonic 5.8ghz with answerphone for home use, it cost about $200 I think. I thought I'd get a good one for home. Sound quality is ok. I've got a panasonic 1.8ghz for work, it cost $35 & the sound quality is twice as good & much easier & logical to use. The only problem is when I drop it (regularly) & it hits concrete, it must jar the life out of the batteries because they go flat instantly. They're ok after a recharge. Aside from that you can't kill them. The cheapie's got a longer range too | Phil B (648) | ||
