765361 2009-04-16 00:34:00 My son has rung me for help. He is running XP on a 4 year old AMD system.
After shifting the set-up to another room, he now finds nothing coming onto the monitor after booting up. He has tried the monitor on another system and there's nothing wrong with it. Apparently the system is booting up, presumably sounds and lights etc but that's it.

There will be nothing fancy in the video card dept., just the generic el cheepo that comes with the system.

Anything I can suggest he tries diagnostically.?

May also be a flat CMOS battery. Try replacing it

765364 2009-04-16 01:06:00 Does it beep?

Is it integrated GFX or a seperate AGP/PCIE card?

765366 2009-04-16 01:40:00 I had something similar; I changed the main cable, to try one of the main spare ones I have, but monitor would not display the usual load up. Though hard drive was still loading. In the end I found the boot priority had swapped to the floppy drive - don't know why/how. So changed it to the hard drive to boot... kahawai chaser (3545)
765367 2009-04-16 11:09:00 You haven't plugged the monitor into the integrated video socket instead of the video card socket, have you? (though you should get some output, in possibly low res); have a look to see that the video card hasnt come loose/fallen out of its slot on the motherboard (or anything else) after the move. feersumendjinn (64)
