765075 2009-04-14 14:31:00 Just got myself this new ADSL router as the old router is giving intermittent faults. What should I choose for DSL Modulation? There are: T1.413, G.dmt, G.Lite, ADSL2, ADSL2+, ADSL2L, ADSL2M, and ADSL2+M.

I tried to set it to ADSL2+ , it works but the download speed is not as good as the Thomson Speedtouch. I could get around 4.4 - 4.9 Mbps for the new WAG160N and the Thomson could reach 7.8 Mbps.

Is there any settings to improve the speed?

Set it to ADSL2 produced same results. Does it mean that the Thomson speedtouch (provided by Telecoms) is a better product?

765078 2009-04-15 02:14:00 Are you on an ADSL2+/ADSL2 capable plan and your area has ADSL2/ADSL2+? Blam (54)
765079 2009-04-15 05:56:00 Ive had mine on auto since forever, and the line speed it gets is 7.8mbit.

Actual speeds are significantly less than that though, cause we're with Telecom. :p

Definitley no hassles with that router though.

Try running a few www.speedtest.net to auckland on both routers, average them out and see if theres a noticable difference. They may just report the line speed differently.
