590445 2007-09-12 06:57:00 One of the headlamps on my Toyota Altezza has blown, and it looks like it's a non-standard part. See pictures here (i218.photobucket.com)and here (i218.photobucket.com).

As you can see in the pictures, the details on the unit are:

SYLVANIA
9006HB4 E13 2B4
DOT12V51W
G0298

The big question: who in NZ sells these bulbs? Preferably in Palmerston North?

590446 2007-09-12 07:04:00 Can you not remove the bulb from the holder?

If not, call your nearest Toyota/Lexus dealer. Sit down whilst you are talking to them. The price quote may make you feel faint.

590447 2007-09-12 08:52:00 Unless it's a HID unit, I can't see Toyota making a headlight designed to take specific bulbs- I mean, what bulb manufacturer would go through the hassle of tooling up a whole manufacturing process to make a bulb for one model of car only?

Give Toyota stealership/ Ripco or car parts place a call with the Make, model and year of you car as well as the chassis number- there will be aftermarket parts available . Otherwise look up Altezza and light in the NZ toyota forum (www . toyspeed . org . nz), and a moderator there called Mr Revhead/ Warwick works at a Toyota dealership in Wellington- he should be able to get a good price for you or provide advice if it is a finecky part (which I doubt) .

Hope this helps .

Sealed unit, ouch re $$. Give Repco, Super Cheap a call, they may have something. If you're short on cash, consider the local wrecker

Not a sealed unit (as in a lamp + lens), just seems to be a proprietary shape.

if you look at the pictures, the actual lamp part looks like an H2 (I think), which you often find in Honda's, etc. I'll try the usual suspects tomorrow - just thought someone round here might have come up against this before and had an answer.

Cheers
