589748 2007-09-10 04:27:00 In the latest build of Google earth (4.2.0180.1134 beta), as well as being able to look at the stars, they've put a litte easter egg in.

It has a flight simulator!

And a surprisingly good one too. The only airport in NZ is Wellington, but I have a feeling that that's gonna be a feature that will stick, and we'll get more around here, and everywhere else.

While in Google Earth, press Ctrl+alt+a and it will ask you where you want to take off from, and which plane you want to fly. Even lets you cruise around in a F16 at Mach 2.

Here (earth.google.com) is a page with all the key commands etc.

589749 2007-09-10 05:06:00 Ok one crash, but that doesn't make me a bad pilot. Honest! jermsie (6820)
589750 2007-09-10 05:23:00  I forgot to mention that it has built-in joystick support. That really makes things easier. I hate flying planes with a mouse or keyboard! :p wratterus (105)
589751 2007-09-10 06:23:00 Hey thanks for that. I've always wanted to play a flight sim game. Damn Woosh, I could probably walk faster to Wellington:lol: beeswax34 (63)

589753 2007-09-10 10:45:00 Now if only they'd update the satellite pics for much of the country. mmmork (6822)
589754 2007-09-10 12:03:00 Yes the pics of Hamilton are over 3 years old and there's been a heap of changes to Hammy in that time. Mind you, there's so much roading work going on, right now, they'll need to update every 6 months. Fishb8 (484)
589755 2007-09-12 00:54:00 Well that's interesting. When I press Ctrl+Alt+A it brings up my address book. That could be handy but I would have liked to try the flight simm. JackStraw (6573)
589756 2007-09-12 00:55:00  You had Google earth selected, and the latest version installed? wratterus (105)
589757 2007-09-12 22:47:00 Yup. Google earth running maximised and nothing else running other than wiodows explorer. The problem is in my windoze settings I suppose. JackStraw (6573)
