590150 2007-09-19 03:43:00 then this certainly this is a big part of the approximately 5,194,520 phones sold daily worldwide. www.fonebiz.co.uk

Well done iapple! Extrapolated out on a daily basis, this gives them a 0.2436798% share of the daily market sales.

Ken

Would that be Smart phones or just regular mobile phones Ken?
Apple is about to double its output of iPhones to cater for European demand.

Apple's stated goal is actually 10 million units in the first calendar year (2008), not the first year (June 29, 2007 - June 28, 2008). Apple CEO Steve Jobs said in his Macworld Expo 2007 keynote address that Apple would set the goal of selling 10 million iPhone units in 2008, the first full year on the market.

590151 2007-09-19 04:40:00 10 million units is 0.5035% of the market share - that's a whole lot, isn't it?

The reason I asked is because there are probably 1 billion mobile phones in circulation but only 20 million or so smart phones in use.
More like 6% market share there Ken

Right. You actually mean a "press release" then. Why not just use the term used in the rest of the media world...?

Probably because they call it a Media Event, but press release/media event/new product release...take your pick. If you call it a media event it gathers more attention which equates to more free advertising. :)
Bit more exiting that an MS snore fest.
