764961 2009-04-14 11:15:00 So if I just lay it on some newspaper, it should be OK? davidmmac (4619)
764962 2009-04-14 11:52:00 I should probably say at this point that the front USB ports are broken MAKE sure the front headers for the USB's are NOT connected to the board while its in the case- if they are these may be shorting out the board - its a simple case of unpluging them from the board. wainuitech (129)
764963 2009-04-15 03:36:00 Just disconnected the front USB ports, still no display :(

Then I removed the RAM (both of them) and still no Beep :(

I will proceed by removing all hardware and setting it up on the table (if I can)

I turned on the pc, with no RAM, modem, HDD, DVD, CD, etc (CPU was in though) and we got one long beep. :banana

Still no display though :(

We got a screen!

I inserted 1 of the sticks of RAM, and we have a screen, only now we also have a "CMOS checksum error - Defaults loaded" :(.

764966 2009-04-15 04:28:00 Reconfigure the settings in the BIOS save then reboot. Speedy Gonzales (78)
764967 2009-04-15 04:31:00 Ok, I pressed F1 and got past the CMOS error, and Windows XP loaded as per normal :clap:clap:clap

Now I just have the problem of putting it back in the case :(. Is it alright to put it back in the original case now it is working?

764968 2009-04-15 04:33:00 If you have any trouble configuring anything in the BIOS, there is a manual here:

764969 2009-04-15 05:12:00 Ok, I pressed F1 and got past the CMOS error, and Windows XP loaded as per normal :clap:clap:clap

Now I just have the problem of putting it back in the case :(. Is it alright to put it back in the original case now it is working? Should be fine - the reason I suggested taking it out the case is sometimes if something is shorting in the case it will stop it from booting.

BUT as you mentioned - the front USB ports are damaged - DONT reattach them.

Edited: just make sure when you put the board back, you DONT go dragging the circuit tracks on the bottom of the board across the risers - the board should "swing" into place - just take your time /care. Damage those tracks and you can kiss the board Goodbye.
