| 590284 | 2007-09-12 07:38:00 | people like to drop their computers off before work & pick them up after work. perhaps you could open & close early on Tuesdays & the opposite on fridays? Would that work, or would people get too upset about you having different opening hours on different days of the week? |

| 590285 | 2007-09-12 08:50:00 | Im not really use to the opening hours in new zealand As I've been in hong kong and used to the shopping hours there thats from 8am to around 12pm. I am not use to the silence during nights and I really am not use to people getting drunk... Hmm... But don't blame NZ as its a different country.Different lifestyle Only 4 hours of opening time? Crikey that'd be a pain. |

Are you opening your computer store for mostly retail sales? For instance, a souvenir store opens longer and on more days than other retail stores. So if you wanted to attract foot traffic and sales then you might open longer on Saturdays and maybe later on Fridays. A store that primarily offers a service like repairs wouldnt need to open extended retail hours to attract shoppers cause if somebody had a pc problem they would drive straight to your store. But If you are going to have a good range off PC accessories that modders would like to come in and buy then you could look at opening longer on Saturdays etc. Why not just try some hours that suit you and change them around if it doesnt work, done so in the first few weeks of trading most customers probably wouldnt notice you changed them cause they wouldnt be use to them yet. All my opinions are just that opinions. Myself I use to prefer to buy my computer accessories on Friday afternoon after work, or Late Saturday morning - after a sleep in. |

| 590287 | 2007-09-12 09:52:00 | I would be inclined to go for the 9 to 5 or 5 . 30 option weekdays and stay open a bit longer if you have customers instore or have prearranged dropping off or collecting their PC . Are the rest of the shops in the town open on Saturdays? If they all are then it would make sense for you to also be open but if business is very quiet on that day after a few months then drop it . I think you will just have to see how you go to start with and after getting a feel for things you can adjust your hours to suit . |

The times given in the poll ...gives me an expression you might as well close your busines altogether.... I would be happy if shops don't close at 12pm on sundays and during week days open until around 8pm. |

Selling parts is hard. Look at all the places listed on Pricespy - most people just go for the cheapest. I did think of the mod stuff, I dunno, no-one else here does it, but then its parts again...... I might advertise it with brochures at first and see what interest there is. And of course if someone is interested in gaming PCs. I have to say I sold more gaming PCs here in Wyndham than I ever did in Auckland.......:waughh: OK, thanks for the opinions. I'll probably go with the 10 - 6 Mon to Fri option and see how it goes. Yes, it can be changed later.......... |

| 590291 | 2007-09-12 22:22:00 | I agree with PCtek, except for CBD Auckland I would recommend 10.00am to 6.30pm in the evening Monday to Thursday, 7.30pm Friday nights, and they could even flag away weekends. It used to amuse me that shops in Queen Street opened at 9 am and did sod all business till about 1130 - busy till 2 pm and relatively quiet till 4.30 and then just as all their potential customers were flooding out of their offices into Queen Street they would shut up shop. If they stayed open later it could ease the rush hour traffic flow a bit, and the shops would do one hell of a lot better. People do not come into Queen Street purely to shop nowadays, as suburban malls offer more and are convenient to their homes. As for weekend shopping - being open 7 days a week does not give people more money to spend, it merely extends the hours that they can spend it, and pushes up business overheads - I believe all shops should be closed Sunday, and probably 2-2.30 pm is enough on a Saturday. There is a lot more to life than shopping - I only wish I could convince my wife of that. |
