765381 2009-04-16 10:10:00 So is it stuck at the install options screen?

What option did you select?

765382 2009-04-16 10:15:00 its not stuck, i get to part where it gives u the 3 second boot loader (press 1 for normal 2 for ACPI disabled press 3 for safe mode etc).

then it starts with a whole bunch of text with a rotating "/" then it just restarts the pc and we start over again

765383 2009-04-16 22:33:00 i might have to try using a different box, tho i dont want to do this as i wont b able to use my 300GB SATA (not that i use more than 10Gb data, would a 550mhz with 256Mb RAM (HP Brio) be okay for freeNAS? aidanmaz (7180)

765385 2009-04-17 00:51:00 Only thing I dont like about the freenas boxes etc, is just that they are boxes, big, noises etc......

I use a D-Link 323 with a couple of 750Gb drive in mirror raid...lovely and quite, plugs into the router, has media extender, FTP and web hosting...and its just a couple of drives in an enclosure....

I suspect you could go even slower CPU than that! Theres no GUI,the ram will be almost empty -only a few daemons will be running.

Solmiester - yeh the premade ones are tiny, everything is customised especially for the purpose. A mini-itx + external power supply would suffice.
