| 764853 | 2009-04-16 03:19:00 | Share the printer on whatever PC (if its XP, go to printers, right mouse / properties / sharing tab, share it). On the other PC go to printers / add a printer. Click next / a network printer / connect to the printer. Type in the name (press windows key + pause / computer name), put in the computer name, and the name of the shared printer on the right). So, it looks like \\computernameofpcsharingprinter\name of printer Also make sure both have the same workgroup name I am not too sure about the 'computer name'. The PC that has the printer attached does not show a name and I presume that this name is what is entered into the name on the computer that I want to share with the printer?. Do I make up a name which will appear in both computers?. |

I have tried many combinations but always end up with "Windows cannot connect to the printer. Either the printer name was typed incorrectly, or the specified printer has lost its connection to the server" It appears to be quite a simple task but perhaps my old brain can't cope LOL. |
