Hi Blam
I am thinking of getting this.
www.pbtech.co.nz
Have read probably over 100 reviews. Lots very positive and some very negative. Though I suspect that some people don't have a lot of patience when they come across a hitch.

A wee worry that it is not glass front, which one site says is important, however note that none of the reviews talks about not being glass as a factor one way or the other.

I run XP, and this logitech really designed for Vista. However I see that XP is said to be okay too. One reviewer even says that he/she has two computers, one with Vista and the other XP and it works equally on both.

Any thoughts on this webcam in particular?

Ive had good experience with the Logitech Cams, same for Phillips. Go for it, we're here to help you if you get stuck mate ;)

764681 2009-04-17 02:51:00 Should work fine with vista.

What software will you be using it with?

This webcam seems to be basic, but easy to use.

And its image quality is not best but enough for most users' needs

The glass lens means the higher models can take sharper, mroe vivid images even in low light.

I wouldn't worry too much about, set the right light environment, and all should be fine

Cheers

Thanks Chill, however even I might manage to work it out. but if I do get stuck ....

Interesting that you mention Philips as that was the other brand I had looked at. Could not find any reviews from customers on it. Have tended to be wary of Philips in recent years but glad to hear you have good experience with their webcam.

Thanks kjaada - had actually thought of that and had considered Mrs Misty's Canon PowerShot A470 for this. Unfortunately it does not do this function.
I have not checked my bridge camera, Pansonic Lumix, but whilst it may work okay would probably be a bit bulky !

Really appreciate the thought !

764686 2009-04-18 22:43:00 I find that logitech cam a bit overpriced . I have a pomax cam and it was roughly the same price but it was 5 megapixel with 8 built in led light for night purposes . Wouldnt that make it 3200x . . . Display? Ninjabear (2948)

I should add that I have my camera set up 4 meters away from my puter and taking in the whole room so we can get all sorts of groups in.If you do this it does not matter if yr camera is ginormous as you manipulate the people etc and leave the camera in situ.Try doing that with a webcam. You have to have a good depth of field.
