589716 2007-12-27 09:04:00 We are over in Hillcrest... a couple of years ago we would never get any crime, now with the youth offending unit we are hearing news of break outs every month or so.

I think with Hamilton's rapid growth the police are spread thin ... Rototuna doens't even have a station and just look at the growth in that area.

A cities growth will always have both positive and negative aspects to it.

589717 2007-12-28 17:56:00 I think it is the schools that have done it, I hear storys sometimes from news other times from friends, the teachers (& other students) are letting students crap all over them.

I think the teachers need to reinvent the rule book that our grandparents had when they were school children and make discipline the first thing school children learn.

589718 2007-12-30 01:59:00 Tiz a very old thread ..... It was in the peachgrove/ham east area and it was not teenagers but older males who robbed this store. In all honestly this is the first area I haven't had to worry about teens walking the streets making trouble .... hardly ever see them hanging around. Was in my old neighbourhood the other day (Melville) and saw a whole lot of police down on Bader st ... not sure why they were there but the were closing down the street .... at least 7 cop cars that I could see and apparently there were several more a few streets away ..... anyway ..... I didn't wait around to see what was up.

I do agree that there should be more responsibility in schools but theres only so much teachers can do .... the kids have to go home sometimes and in all honesty respect ...... responsibility should first be taught at home.:D
