589704 2007-09-10 00:51:00 The dairy across the road from me was robbed yesterday for the second time in 20 days. The first involved a knife which cut the owners hand, this time the owners wife, probably so sick of putting up with all the crap, first instinct was to close the sliding door to stop him from getting away with their hard earned money. Fortunately, as I would hate to see what would have happened if he had of been trapped in there with them, he burst through the thick glass door, got into the car with his accomplices and drove off. Two guys who were there got into their car and chased them for a bit but unfortunately weren't able to keep up with them. Its was broad daylight, very very busy road. I called 111 and went over to make sure everyone was OK. It took 40 plus mins for the police to arrive. I'm standing there, listening to the owner, his wife and family members who came to ensure they and their kids were safe, and I'm hearing how angry they and the 2 bystanders are and rightly so.

Hamilton seems to be getting so much worse with gang rubbish, robberies and rapists out on the streets. Its getting to the point that anywhere here is considered a bad area.

During the 40 min wait for the police to arrive, not one person stopped to ask if everything was OK. Stupidly enough I counted 7 people who stopped and asked if the dairy was still open. They actually walked over the thick glass that was shattered everywhere, saw groceries lying on the floor, money scattered by the door, the owners wife holding her arm as she had been showered in glass and they asked if the damn dairy was still open. After hearing it was not, they left. :stare:

589705 2007-09-10 00:56:00 Aye. Whats the world coming to? :annoyed: Condolences to the owners of the dairy. If I owned a place like that there would be a sawn-off shotgun under the counter at all times. wratterus (105)
589706 2007-09-10 00:59:00 Do you think the robber is ok though?
He could of hurt himself, wasn't a very good idea sliding the door shut, the owner could get sued for aggravated assault against the robber!

Knowing the Police, he would get sued. I think he would have to get shot first or dying on order to use that legally. Stupid rules:mad:

589708 2007-09-10 10:00:00 Hmmm. It seems the southern-most boundary of Auckland is on the move - in a southerly direction. Welcome to my world! :annoyed: :p johcar (6283)

Yeah Right!

They do the fancy upper class Auckland areas.

You'll find that half the time it's usually the local minority groups that commit it.

And yes, I do live just two mins drive from Otara. And another two mins from where that kid Augustine Borrell lived (www.nzherald.co.nz)

589712 2007-09-10 20:22:00 What was Augustine Borrell doing in Herne Bay?
There is more to this than meets the eye.

He got invited to a party and was leaving to (presumably) go home when he was set upon.
