766362 2009-04-19 10:42:00 I had an odd one today.
If you plugged in a USB flash drive and attempted to access it, a message came up "Access denied! You have reached the limit of secret keeping on this system!". This was repeated with several flash drives. I scanned for virus and malware but found nothing.
Reinstalled from an Acronis image and all is well.

I have never had this happen before, has anyone experienced the same thing?
System is XPpro SP2.

766363 2009-04-19 10:50:00 When it comes to malware, strange things can and do happen all the time.

Sometimes depending on what programs you are using to scan for malware, and what AV you have, the infections will be missed, or more to the point, the software cant detect them.

Some of that junk is very good at hiding - What I'd suggest, is NOW scan your flash drives - just in case. I have had several customers PC's that when a flash drive is attached, instantly the infections are transfered to the drive.

766364 2009-04-19 10:57:00 I scanned both flash drives in Windows and Linux, found nothing and they work Ok.

Acronis was the best software buy I've ever made, saves hours of grief!

766366 2009-04-19 11:20:00 That isn't "strange", anything can happen when it comes to Malware. Look in TaskManager, MSconfig, for weird things that shouldn't be there. Darryl (5097)
