766237 2009-04-19 02:38:00 Hi Guys

My Neighbor is having a few issues with his computer, can't see system restore, search etc. Can I use my full XP disc to do a repair on his computer, his is OEM and his disk is damaged. Have run all the recommended malware checks etc.:badpc:

766238 2009-04-19 03:14:00 What you should try first is the system file checker.

Run>sfc /scannow.

If it asks for an XP CD insert yours.

When it is done, restart.

Download HijackThis (www.trendsecure.com), save to desktop, and copy+paste logfile here for analysis.

As long as you have a retail disc you should be able to repair install fine.
Here (www.michaelstevenstech.com)is a tutorial if you are unsure. If the OEM key on the PC doesn't work, you may need to ring MS up and sort it out.
I would try the above steps first, as it should be fixable.
What Antivirus is instaleld and what did you use to scan for malware?
