766017 2009-04-17 21:45:00 Today bootup it is v slow .
Went into safe mode . I chose boot up in last best known confirguration or something like that it grinded its way into windows but the screen reso and colors were good, not 640x480 at 4 bit color .

Now appears my 2nd HDD is not there and that if I start AVAST it takes forever to load, it starts up windows with AVAST disabled .

Any help?

766019 2009-04-17 22:22:00 The hijack is basically clean - looks more like some component may be failing .

Now appears my 2nd HDD is not there This could be a failed HDD, or even a Motherboard, Power Supply issue, or cables .

The slowness could be the OS trying to locate components .

How is the second HDD attached Eg: Slaved on the same IDE as the Main drive, or separate SATA connection ?

Edited: click start/Run type in eventvwr Once open have a look through the system logs, see if there is an error(s) that state DISK . IF there is then the HDD has lost contact with the board, going back to the original possible suggested cause .

766020 2009-04-18 00:00:00 2x Master SATAs individually, non RAID.

I uninstalled AVAST will reinstall.
I restarted and the HDD popped back on .. dunno why not the first time a reboot has fixed it. Then a restart WinXP did a Chkdsk.

Seems ok for now .....

766021 2009-04-18 00:02:00 Update HJT as well, its way out of date.

Then tick these then tick fix checked

Close browsers

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Adobe Acrobat Speed Launcher] "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\Acrobat_sl.exe"

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RemoteControl] "C:\Program Files\CyberLink DVD Solution\PowerDVD\PDVDServ.exe"

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NeroFilterCheck] C:\WINDOWS\system32\NeroCheck.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jusched.exe"

This doesnt have to be in startup, tick it if you want

766023 2009-04-18 03:28:00 What Brand hard drive?

I would run the manufacturers disk checking software, just incase.

766024 2009-04-18 04:04:00 The objects speedy told to remove are not infections, just items that dont need to run on startup.

These being removed will speed the PC up a little, but they wont be the full cause of it suddenly going slow, or the HDD now not showing.
