592192 2007-09-18 02:35:00 I live in a unit which is attached to another unit . My neighbor plays his music from about 8am through to about 10pmish or later some nights . He plays the same damn songs over and over and over and over and over again . I love my music as much as the next person but #1 doesn't help he plays them over and over . #2 its mainly rap . #3 Its so damn loud #4 and the biggest problem is . . . he has his bass up so damn loud that my whole house shakes . He must have his radio right up by my lounge wall . Thats all I hear . . . bang bang bang and all my windows rattle . . . . I'm going to go mad or just curl up into a ball and cry like a little girl . Seriously .

Am I able to do anything about it? Is it during the hours where I have no option but to listen to it? Hes not very approachable and not someone I want to get angry .

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh he's just played the same song again for the 4th time!!!!!!

592193 2007-09-18 02:40:00 Get your phone as close to the wall as you can and call the cops...let them hear it for themselves...even amplify it a little by actually letting the handset touch the wall for added transmission of the sound.

10PM is the latest you are allowed to make ANY noise here in most of the States..it is just common nice-ness.

Be sure to tell them you do NOT need to be contacted as you fear reprisals from him.

592194 2007-09-18 02:40:00 you can buy seals which come in paste or cushions, fill them in window gaps and doors. you can also call the noise control people or auckland city council for advice..if nothing works out, buy your neighbor some good sennheiser headphones with some good bass. gum digger (6100)

592197 2007-09-18 02:58:00 Sorry but I can't resist saying this, move your own speakers close to his wall - load ABBA- turn up full and go out for the day

Seriously though - if its annoying and it goes on consistantly, and I assume theres other units near by, have the owner of the units or noise control contact him and advise to turn it down. - Seek advice from council as they deal with this sort of thing all the time.

Can't stop him playing the same song over and over, but when it affects others theres room to complain about the loudness.

592198 2007-09-18 03:02:00 Talk to your local council. They may have some suggestions - some of them might even be relevant/useful if you get them on a good day... johcar (6283)

Thats probably a good idea. I have a mate who's a logging contractor, had been away for a week, got back about 9pm on a Friday night, absoutley shattered.

A few minutes later his neighbours cranked on some loud music and proceeded to have a 'pool party'. He nicely asked them to please try to keep it down a bit, but to no avail. Being the resourceful and non-violent chap he is, he went to his ute in the garage, filled his chainsaw, a massive grunty beast, up with oil and petrol, and sat beside their fence with it revving on full noise for about 10 mins, even after they had turned the music down. They got the message, and havn't had a loud party since.

592200 2007-09-18 03:20:00 I have been living here for a few months now and have considered asking him to come over and hear it for himself . Problem . . . don't want him inside my house lol .
