591827 2007-09-17 10:03:00 Why are the bastards still showing the ad with the Falc when Ford is taking court action.I saw the ad tonight (I actually sat up and watched it this time) and noticed the Ford badge was missing from the front grille.....has that always been the case? andrew93 (249)
591828 2007-09-17 10:10:00 I had a 1959 Morris Oxford with rack and pinion steering and cross ply tyres. I used to live on a long gravel road out of Blenhiem and drive drunk most nights from the oki pub back home.
Quite often when pissed (every night except Sunday) I would lose control and the car would start sliding in the gravel. The recovery technique was taught to me by a BLMC expert. It was instantly take your hands off the steering wheel and put them on your head. The car would get out of the skid by itself. Although sometimes I got stuck in a fence or ditch.
That was in the good old days when drink driving was a sport and not a crime.

591830 2007-09-17 10:23:00 I thought the point of the ad was to show that NZ roads are sh*t, and it's like driving on a minefield.

Top post! frightening thing is its all true about the roads..

591832 2007-09-17 11:03:00 Good stability control might well have stopped him spinning like that, if I understand it right...

yes and no.

stability control just means you can drive faster around the corner. however when it does skid your going too fast to be able to recover.
used to have a problem with some tires. they gripped great but when you pushed them too much they didn't slide, they just let go. stability control can act the same way by removing the minor skidding which tells you your pushing it too hard, so when you really push it hard you go past the limits completely without noticing you are doing so.

its a bit like ABS on dirt/metal roads. the vehicle takes LONGER to stop with ABS.

ford are just p*ssed that their big sales pitch got blown out of the water.

tedheathIf you drank at the Okaramio Pub 1973-75 thereabouts, you would never get drunk. The beer was that watered down.!!!!

591836 2007-09-17 20:33:00 I drunk at the Oki from 1977 to 1980 when a guy called Phil Mead was the barkeep. I think a lady owned it before him.
