| 766331 | 2009-04-20 04:36:00 | Okay guys dont turn this into a "I dont have an iPhone so Im going to bag it in every way possible". gary67, thats nice, but not what this thread is about, and you're just stirring. Please dont! I've got an ipod touch, which is essentially a thinner iphone without the Vodafone tax and 3G connection, and it is a revolutionary device. You can make cheap phone calls on it too via skype over wifi. I also have a nokia 6121 for phone calls on prepay, and it is a far more features than the iphone has, such as video calling, cut and paste etc. You will find that safari on the iphone/ipod should work in a simialr way to the way it does on the computer, apart from it not loading flash companoents. Whether this is becuase it doesn't have the processor power to run flash, or to prevent people using flash applications to bypass the cell providers, I don't know. Apart from this, it is quite a good browser, although it does struggle with websites such as stuff and NZ hearld, which must have quite high memory requirements. |

The three main reasons for no flash are: Flash doesn't run on ARM CPUs (which is what the iphone uses) It eats battery life Excessive resource requirements (although some javascript-heavy sites are getting up there too...) I also have an ipod touch (2nd gen, 2.2.1, jailbroken), and I've gotta say it's one of the neatest devices I've owned. Having a full UNIX system in my pocket is damn useful. Just wish it had a USB host port (and a GPS, although I care less about that). |

I guess with a jailbroken one, you can have streetview. The iphone 3rd gen that is coming our is supposed to have in inbuilt compass, which would work well with street view. |

| 766335 | 2009-04-20 08:39:00 | I got the iphone because it's got the feature I want & use. I mean who wants to see my ugly mug via video calling:p If I find I don't like it I can always sell it or give it to my son. I looked at the Nokia 5800, but there was something about it that wasn't quite right, dunno what, it just didn't feel right. Rumour has it there could be another iphone in June. That website displays properly in Firefox, IE7, Crome & Safari. I've never tried Safari before & I don't know if it's my imagination, but it seems much faster at loading web pages than the others. Firefox still the best for funcionality with a few addons. Here's a couple of videos on how to change your SMS tones without jailbreaking, at least they haven't mentioned it has to be done. I'll find out soon www.youtube.com www.youtube.com |

| 766336 | 2009-04-20 11:53:00 | Is it possible to change the sound an ipod touch makes when it receives an email, without jailbreaking it? | robbyp (2751) | ||
| 766337 | 2009-04-20 21:22:00 | Thats a good question, unfortunately I dont think so :-/ Phil B, yeah, it has to be done ... |
