| 766306 | 2009-04-19 21:51:00 | True..the M51VR is also a good option. Both the M51VR and www.dexternights.com are around the 1500 mark but here are their pros: M51VR: +Faster graphics card +Has both DVI and HDMI while PRO50GL-AP236C only has hmdi PRO50GL-AP236C +Newer processor, uses 45nm core instead of 65nm (www.dexternights.com) therefore faster +Larger hard drive(320gb vs 250gb) I think B.M. wanted to get his lappy in Aus, but I would recommend the Asus M51VR series of laptops. One thing to watch out for, even though the laptops are marked M51VR, there are slightly different versions available. I thought mine was the same as Greg's, but when checking I have a higher spec'd CPU - the Intel Duo P8400 2.26 GHz with a 45nm core, a bus speed of 1066 MHz and a 3MB L2 cache. The higher spec'd CPU adds another $300 to the price. So make sure you compare the spec's for any model carefully to make sure you are getting what you wanted. |

The higher spec'd machine is worth the extra bucks. But mine is still a good budget machine and really well priced if he can get it over there in Aus. |

Thanks for the heads up on that Jen. Further investigation has shown that model numbers mean very little with ASUS as the actual Specifications for the same model number vary alarmingly. Nothings simple is it? P.S. Not worried where I buy it as long as I get what I want at the right price. :) |
