| 766605 | 2009-04-20 23:53:00 | Does anyone know of alternative options to make a laptop screen brighter and permenantly? My laptop has been repaired - faulty motherboard but now the function keys to make laptop brighter / duller dont work - I emailed the guy who fixed it and he said its due to drivers / registry, and since there were a few other issues, i thought bugger this I'll do a fresh install, so i've done that, updated all drivers to latest version using driver genius. But still not working - why do technicans fix computers but something else craps up when it was DEFINATELY working before it went away - it just wasnt holding battery charge...:annoyed: I'm using windows vista - am always on adaptor power 90% of the time..so it'd be good if I can have it brighter! its so dull at the moment...and battery/power setting is on high performance...Ive got a Hewlett packard entertainment PC laptop... |

Will see if i can find it again. Found it... In VIsta, it's in Control Panel, Power Options, Change Plan Settings hope this helps |

| 766613 | 2009-04-21 11:02:00 | why do technicans fix computers but something else craps up Because SOME tech's don't do the job correctly/fully. Theres no big deal in getting the correct drivers, esp from something like a HP/Compaq. What a tech "should" do esp with HP/Compaq's, is on the C drive, in a hidden folder called Drivers ( thats original aint it) is all the original drivers for the PC/Laptop concerned - if they are copied to a removable source, or drive copied in the first place then there shouldn't be a problem - only excuse I would accept is if there had been a total drive failure, or some else had wiped the original drive previously. |

| 766614 | 2009-04-22 00:42:00 | i ripped them one - told them how I wasnt impressed that they returned the computer in a worst state - and they said they can have a look at it but if its software based then they'll charge...even though they stuffed it up...:horrified and the reason why so long in getting repaired was they waiting on HP to send more motherboards - so could be a new one?... I did ANOTHER fresh reinstall and this time it worked - i must have missed an driver through genius driver or something.... Thanks for your assistance :) |
