765721 2009-04-16 10:29:00 I've had my laptop sent away for repair - as wasnt reading charge etc from adaptor...came back today - motherboard was faulty, thank god for 5 year warranties :banana

Unfortunately now I've got a very annoying popup on a few things I am trying to use - MSN, Outlook, Internet Explorer, even the Control panel on vista so far - havent tried everything but yeah , MS Word works etc...

Using MSN as example here...

msnmsger.exe - no disk
theres no disk in the drive please insert a disk into drive D:

(D: on my laptop is the CD/DVD drive)

How do I repair this? I was thinking reinstall Outlook and MSN but what about the control panel?

Am using VISTA...

765722 2009-04-16 10:33:00 Have the drives changed letter?

You can change them back to their originals in disk management.

Run>diskmgmt.msc

765723 2009-04-16 10:40:00 I wouldnt have a clue if they had changed - as laptop been gone for 8 weeks and i've forgotten how it was - but i can try changing D to C and see what it does csinclair83 (200)
765724 2009-04-16 10:42:00 Sometimes that means the program you are trying to use is damaged - generally if this is the case reinstalling the program will fix it. OR they could have stuffed /altered something when replacing the board ( in other words didn't test the Laptop correctly before returning it to you)

One other time I have seen this is when you have infections on your Computer. If you are able, from my sig, download and run Malwarebytes & Spyware terminator in full scan modes.

Also get Hijack This (www.trendsecure.com) run it, and select scan and save a log,copy/paste the complete log file back here for us to look at and advice (speedy is the man to answer more accurately hijack logs)

765727 2009-04-16 10:49:00 Theyre usually long so it doesnt matter, just post it in here Speedy Gonzales (78)
765728 2009-04-16 10:49:00 What is the message that control panel pops up with?

I reckon the programs files has changed to a different drive letter, and the program is trying to find its files...

Weird how they would return it like that, they must've done a repair install and thus changed the drive letters
