2009-04-23 12:41:00 | When booting up the sequence is, the Bios info, then the MS Corpn 'timer' thingy (Vista Premium Home) then as msoft does its bing bong thing the screen goes blank and then says no signal. Switching the screen off & back on and the bootup has indeed proceeded normally and is running. Later a warning comes up saying the screen should be run at 1680x1050 but going into screen properties the highest setting the display allows is 1024 by 768. The problem with the screen disappearing at bootup and the change in screen resolution happened together. I have gone through a reinstall of the screen (Viewsonic VX2235) and the graphics card ( nvidia GeForce 9500 GT). Booting from the Windows install CD goes straight on through to the Windows Startup Repair which comes up Successful. It appears that the graphics signals changing from the initial black screen to the bue/green screen gets hijacked and nothing from there on appears. (have done full scans with AVG, Comodo, and Malwarebytes) Also done a System Restore from a Restore Point of 10 days ago which is before this problem appeared. No Joy !! How much would reinstalling Vista destroy?

2009-04-24 12:51:00 | Have installed latest drivers from nvidia. No change Have booted in Safe mode. Worked OK although there was a little hesitation at the point where the other monitor gave up. Did allow me to change the resolution to 1680 by 1050 but when booting up again ‘regular’ (and failing) the resolution was back to 1024 by 768. Have booted using another monitor (Philips CRT) Worked OK although there was a little hesitation at the point where the other monitor gave up. Have not found any reference to integrated GFX for the mobo in the manual. It is a P5K Premium. So I guess it's off to nvidia support.

2009-04-24 12:54:00 | If it doesn't work properly in safe mode then its probably a hardware problem Blam

2009-04-25 00:34:00 | So, as it operates the Viewsonic in Safe mode, and the CRT in full, would that tend to indicate that it's a software problem. | bugalugs67 (9647) | |
2009-04-25 01:37:00 | I had this same problem about a month ago, and nothing would fix it, i even went as far as to reinstall windows. Then During earth hour i turned my computer off, and then at the wall as well, and bam it was fixed. Try turning your whole computer off, then unplugging it from the wall for an hour and see if it works for you?
