767675 2009-04-23 02:02:00 Is it possible to install Windows Vista Home Basic on the same partition as my Windows XP installation? If so, how? LarsJohann (13010)
767676 2009-04-23 02:07:00 If you create another partition for it, yup it should work Speedy Gonzales (78)
767677 2009-04-23 02:09:00 It'll stuff things up completly if you do that.

You should make a different partiton.

Or what you could also try is, make a VHD for windows 7 and install it on that, and keep it on your XP drive

VHD is just a file that acts as a HD

767678 2009-04-23 02:10:00 Is there a way i can partition my drive without having to format my partitions? LarsJohann (13010)
767679 2009-04-23 02:13:00 Yes, from disk management

Run>diskmgmt.msc>Right click partiton shrink/extend

Or if that doesn't work, download gparted:
sourceforge.net

Then burn to CD, boot from it, and extend partitions.

767680 2009-04-23 02:14:00 Could try Gparted or partition magic (you'll prob have to buy this, for it to work). Never tried either of them tho Speedy Gonzales (78)
767681 2009-04-23 02:15:00 And this wont delete any of my current data? LarsJohann (13010)
767682 2009-04-23 02:16:00 Also, how do i make this VHD? LarsJohann (13010)

It doesn't, but it can sometimes corrupt a bit of the system files and/or the bootloader

767684 2009-04-23 08:33:00 I tried it once, but could not get them working. Eventually I had to reinstall both on different partitions. Lumber Joe (14835)
