It is rumored to be the 8700 series so to give more performance then the 8600 series but not cost as much as the 8800GTS 320mb. | 593046 | 2007-09-22 10:46:00 | Even though I am still new to all this, Iv spent alot of time asking, and browsing sites (tomshardware.com in particular) and it seems that for the gamers out there, the 8800gts 320mb is the best in terms of performance vs value. Going by your figures memphis, for an extra $150 its got to be worth it in comparison to the 8600 GT. Check this out (Just in case you havent seen it..) www23.tomshardware.com Notice the 8800gts 320mb is often giving better fps than the 640mb version? That makes no sense to me, from what I've read online, the extra 320mb is supposed to aid in higher fps? I dunno, im still learning :waughh: |

| 593047 | 2007-09-22 11:32:00 | Yeah the 8800GTS 320mb is a very good card for gaming right now thats why I put this next to it.:thumbs: The 8800GTS 640mb is for higher screen resolution and will be better on more demanding DX 10 games later on I think because of the card having more ram. You know how on the game's box's it would recommend to work great with 128mb of ram on board,now its 256mb on board for good games and for really good graphical nice games they will eat up as much ram as possible so I would go for the 8800gts 640mb card or the ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT 512MB. So in the end a 8800GTS 320mb,8800GTS 640mb or a 2900XT 512mb card will be a very good gaming card for anyone.:cool: |

For the 8800gts 320mb, theres probably a good $120 price difference between the brands, im looking at the EVGA 320mb superclocked one, but could save $100ish by choosing a palit, sparkle or albatron branded card.. Any ideas? |

(they used to be back in the days of the 6 series, but i don't know what the 8 series is like) oh and that $150 should be considered in percentage of total cost, ie 50% extra money either way to alot of gamers that $150 may be 150 too much |

Might stick with the known good ones then, just to be safe . . either way to alot of gamers that $150 may be 150 too much I was thinking along the lines of, if you spend the extra $150 now, it might save you having to spend $400 on an upgrade in a year when you wanna play newer games . . But, I guess you could say that for any component, so . . . :badpc: |
