592606 2007-09-30 05:56:00 There's something dodgy about the whole thing IMO. People take valuable computers to e-day and they are sold.

Who gets the money?

I personally think the whole thing was for profit. They're shipping the scrap PCs overseas (probably getting paid by the ton for it) and the good ones they are:

Recovers computers, refurbishes them and sells them at low cost to schools, charitable organisations, and to the public.

592608 2007-09-30 06:33:00 Well I don't think there's anything dodgy about it, yes some people will take valuable computers along but the vast majority will be old dungers, and old crts are bloody hard to get rid off, good luck to them i say, and if they make a profit well thats brilliant, making money out of stuff that probably would have ended up in a landfill is clever, although i am a shade jealous as i could have done with a few XP Pro licences Morgenmuffel (187)

Lol.

They don't recover any of them. We would have got in excess of 500 PCs, sorting through those would be a nightmare. They all just get recycled as raw materials.

592610 2007-09-30 07:30:00 Yes, they are recovering any PC's that are working, as said on TV1 tonight. The rest get shipped off shore for re-cycling. zqwerty (97)
592611 2007-09-30 07:49:00 They started off sorting the main PCs, but we just were too bogged under. I can't see how they would sort through them all. roddy_boy (4115)
