| 767760 | 2009-04-23 22:05:00 | Speedy Gonzales can you watch you tube vidoes with out it buffering? Does it ever feel like it gets down to dail up speeds when you surf the net?(uncapped) Because most ISPs use the Telecom network you well get buffering at certain times of the day watching videos. I'm with Actrix and the slow down seems to occur mostly after 3-00pm maybe up to about 9-00pm. :) |

| 767762 | 2009-04-23 23:57:00 | isnt orcon like $79+? Max im looking to spend is $50 Speedy Gonzales "about 40 a mth"? 15gb is just $49.31 Does any one know if xnet has like a 1 year contract? Cause in case its real bad I would like to leave. Oops youre right, $50 is my cap, but I've never been anywhere near it. The most I've used since I joined about 2 years ago, is about $45.00 a mth (once). But usually, we (2 of us), use about 5GB a mth (about $40.00 a mth). It may just go over 5 Gb this mth, since I'm downloading Ubuntu 9.04. which just came out (the 32 and 64 bit version, it'll be about 1.4 GB). I didnt have a contract, because I'm not using their modem, I brought my own. I dont really bother with Youtube. But when I did, yup it did buffer, depending on when I went there |

| 767763 | 2009-04-24 01:24:00 | Just found out theres a contract... There is a $99 disconnection fee if a customer cancels their service within the first 12 months. This fee reduces by $8.25 for each month your service is active with WorldxChange (ie: after 6 months the disconnection fee will be $49.50). When joining from another provider, a churn fee of $25 is applicable. Connection and Wiring costs $149 on top of a provisioning fee, and is where a technician will visit your house. A Connection and Wiring Cost is normally required where you have 4 or more phone jacks in use or a monitored alarm. All prices include GST. I would of tryed xnet out again but I dont want to have to stay with them for a year if speeds are really that slow and maby get even slower. |

| 767765 | 2009-04-24 03:42:00 | Ive been with Xnet for about a year and half on there fusion plan for $70 a month which includes a digital phone. In dunedin city most of my downloads are around 400-700 Kb/s but ive done speed tests that show 6Mb/s download. Im mostly happy with xnet, there biggest downside is they dont have a 24 hour call centre, only 8-5 weekdays and less then that on weekends, and any time i have tech problems it is ALWAYS afterhours. |

The churn fee didnt exist a few years ago (when I joined Xnet either). That was the main reason I joined Xnet. Most ISP's think you have a phone (I dont, the flatmate pays for this phone). And I'm not going to pay an extra $10, just because I dont use a phone / or change the phone to whatever ISP And I didnt have to pay a joining fee / churn fee. And I had no intention of paying an ISP anything, since I brought the modem, I didnt get it, when I joined the ISP |

| 767767 | 2009-04-24 03:52:00 | Xnet have contracts now Nomad. Yes, and they have obviulsy done that, becuase of the bad speeds, as when they had good speeds they didn't have the contract. With a contract you are stuck with them, unless you want to pay a 'fine' for leaving them early. Orcon don't have a contract any more, which is becuase they say their service is so good, you wouldn't want to leave. |

And thus far in all my multiple dealings with them at multiple sites across Auckland, so far they've been magic! :D Cant comment on the general support Helpdesk though, never ring it ;) |
